Sakura Japanese & Sushi on Stratford Road

Not to be confused with the Sakura in Midway, and also not affiliated with it I was told, the Sakura on Stratford has very good sashimi. Food: 4.5/5 I ordered the salmon, yellowtail, mackerel, and tilapia. Everything tasted very fresh and was high quality. Value: 3.5/5 It was slightly pricey for the amount of sashimi you get, but it was worth it. Service: 3.5/5 Helpful but could have been slightly more attentive. Wait: 4/5 Moderate wait, not too fast but not terribly slow either. Atmosphere: 3/5 A tad quaint, although the booths were quite hard. Also a little smokey in the dining room from the grill. Total score: 3.7/5 I will be back at least for their sashimi, and perhaps to try some other items on their menu.

The place itself feels a bit rundown. Definitely could use an update but... We were here for the sushi which did not disappoint at all. It was fresh and delicious. The service was great too. Prices are a little more affordable then some other places. Definitely would eat here again. Lots of parking behind the building. They even have an outside patio area.

I grew up in Winston-Salem and really enjoyed eating here. Tonight I came after work for a quick bite before running some errands. I was sat relatively quickly and brought a water. It turns out there was only 1 server and about 7-8 tables. I asked about gluten free items and also if they had Tamari or GF Soy Sauce. She told me she would find out. I ordered a roll of sushi, a house salad and a side of plain mixed vegetables. The salad came with a side of ginger dressing with a pile of iceburg lettuce. When I went to take a bite, I noticed the salad was full of actual ice cubes?! Chunks of ice. I've worked in restaurants and this honestly looked like a salad that had been sat in the dish pit with a glass of ice water poured over it. I was pretty freaked out and let the server know. She was confused and started picking up the ice cubes with her hands and told me she would get a new salad. This took about 15 minutes. My sushi roll was really delicious when it finally arrived. I could not get a refill on my water and my vegetables never came. I asked and she said "yeah we couldn't do those plain." I got my check and waited a while for that. It looked like maybe 3 people were at the rest

No no nooooooo ! The shrimp is over cooked no flavor , white sauce is more mayo than anything . Broccoli mushy . Steak I’ve done might be better on dine in but my takeout experience was horrible. Then to be charge and extra 1.50$ for white sauce when only given one per place is crazy . Spring rolls soggy

Got a takeout/delivery. Food was not as expected. Very gooey bang bang shrimp. Whoever made that left out some starch or the like. The Lover Roll was also gooey w/what seems as very overcooked rice. The Salem Spirit app roll was excellent! The Chicken & Shrimp was ok, just very average, quite bland, actually. Too many other restaurants out here to give this place any recommendations.
